Graduated from the Faculty of Land Drainage, Agricultural University in Krakow, where he was awarded in 1967 by diploma MSc. In 1967-1969 he worked in the Regional Land Drainage Enterprise in Krakow. In the Krakow Branch has been working since 1969 till present taking the following posts: engineering-technical staff, assistant, senior assistant, research fellow and assistant professor in sections/departments: Natural Principles of Mountain Land Development, Grasslands (Dept. of Mountain Management), later in the section of Mountain Pastures, which he established and led in 1987-1992. From 1992 he is in charge of the Krakow Branch IMUZ, which was transformed in 1999 in Malopolska Research Centre in Krakow.

In 1974 he spent 6 months in the fellowship at SFRA Nyon near Genewa in Switzerland. From that time he independently leads most research studies realized in the Carpathians.

Ph.D. thesis on the impact of different quantity of grass mixture seeds and legumes on the qualitative and quantitative changes new established grasslands, completed with honours in 1977. In the work he proved the possibility of significant limiting expensive at that time seed materials, applied in the grassland management. The obtained results were confirmed by numerous large-scale research and development works.

In the research studies he was interested in the problems of low-input, environment friendly forms of turf area utilisation in the Carpathians, which was concluded in his DSc. habilitation titled Organisation of large flock pastoral management in the mountain taking into consideration mechanical sheep milking. 

DSc. habilitatio examination finished with honours in May 1992 at Agricultural Faculty, Hugo Kołłątaj Agriculture University, Krakow and was awarded DSc. in the area of agronomy and meadow science. In 1993 he was appointed as an assistant professor at the IMUZ Institute, in which he works till present.

He is the author and co-author about 150 scientific, popular and extension papers. He was also co-author of a handbook, agro-bio technical dictionary and also monographic works. He was taking part in many expert works, concepts and R&D. For many years he was leader of original own research studies. At present apart-realised current problem he is also the author and coordinator subsequent research programme.

Since 1991 he is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute, working in the Economical Committee and in the Scientific Staff Development Committee.
